The Indian Subcontinent is mind-bogglingly complex in its web of spirituality and religion. Hinduism is extraordinarily expansive with literally millions of gods, incorporating effortlessly so many smaller beliefs. Indian philosophy is Hindu philosophy, and so the spiritual teachings infuse every aspect of the culture.
I’ve scratched the bare bare surface of this stuff in a few posts, including:
- Where Gods Collide where I talk about the mish mash of religions and spiritualism suffusing the Kathmandu valley
- Jainism where I talk about visiting the Ranakpur Jainist Temple and some of the things I learned about Jainism through that experience
- Motorcycling to Malana where I talk about the things I learned about Hindu Atomic Theory in a chillum den atop a holy mountain at the top of the Malana Valley
- The Langtang Valley in which I recount my first experience seeing a Tibetan Buddhist Gompa and meeting a Lama
